There can be a pathway that’s right for you
Samantha Northover wasn’t sure she was the right person to study at HE level, she had lots of doubts, but started by doing an access course. She had young children at home but found that the family adapted. Parts of the course were particularly tricky as 50% of the programme was spent on practice placements including working nights, weekends and 12 hour shifts. Samantha says when your family can see you passion, they want to help you succeed, so it can work, just keep the end goal in sight. Being an older student doubted if she’d fit in, but unlike compulsory education, she realised that our brains actually retain the information if we want to know.
