Want to experience higher education outside the South West? Here’s our pick of residential trips taking place further afield this summer.

Most universities and colleges will open their doors to young people throughout the summer, offering an unforgettable opportunity to experience what life at university or college is really like. From living in student accommodation and taking part in recreational activities to gaining first-hand insight into the specific courses and facilities available – residential trips are enjoyable and enlightening!

It’s easy to start looking for your next adventure by getting involved with our partner university/college summer events, visit our partner pages to find out more. If, however, your sights are set further afield, read on to discover opportunities beyond the South West region. The world is your oyster, let’s go!

Experience a taste of undergraduate life at Cambridge.

New Political Minds Summer School
This is a three-day residential research workshop run by the prestigious Richardson Institute specialising in the field of Politics and International Relations.
Wednesday 28th, 29th and 30th August 2019
Open to Year 12 students, who are predicted ABB in their A Levels, who meet certain WP criteria and complete a short application form (there are only 32 places available)

This 5-day July residential is for students considering a future in the creative and cultural industries. Each of the five summer schools focus on a different area from Fashion and Filmmaking to Architecture and Performance.
Monday 15th – Friday 19th July 2019, Monday 22nd – Friday 26th July 2019 & Monday 29th July – Friday 2nd August 2019 (Subject dependent).
9:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday

This summer school is for young carers and covers a range of subjects.

Get Set
A three-day residential summer school.
Monday 22nd – Wednesday 24th July 2019
Open to students who will be at the end of Year 12 in July 2019, and come from backgrounds where Higher Education has not traditionally been studied.

Get Ready
A one-day taster event
Tuesday 6th August 2019 – 10:30 am – 5:00 pm
Open to students who will be at the end of Year 12 (or an equivalent level of study) in August 2019

Take part in university style sessions with motivational speakers and university lecturers as well as social activities ranging from fancy dress parties to karaoke and sport. There are two dates for different year groups.

This is an opportunity for students to visit the University of Northampton’s new Waterside campus and to experience different teaching styles to identify how they learn best.
