NHS Health Careers will be running an exciting Step into the NHS Day to introduce its long running schools’ competition for Key Stage 3. It’s also a chance for your students to meet NHS staff in a classroom environment, bringing some of the more than 350 NHS careers to life!
The KS3 Step into the NHS Day will be on Tuesday, 5 March 2024.
The KS2 Step into the NHS Day will be during Wednesday, 13 March 2024
The virtual session during National Careers Week is designed to:
- raise your students’ aspirations
- inspire them to create their Step into the NHS competition entries
- help you deliver NHS careers learning throughout the day
You don’t have to wait until the Step into the NHS Day to get started. The ‘one lesson launch’ allows students to create entries after just one hour of lesson time. They need to create an advertisement for an NHS role of their choosing that inspires their peers to consider it as a future career. They also need to show that they have researched the qualifications, skills and experience needed.

- aligns with the KS3 curriculum and the Gatsby benchmarks
- is an easy way for you to weave careers-based learning into subjects such as PSHE
- gets students excited to learn about over 350 NHS roles while developing job-seeking skills and raising career aspirations
