UniConnect programme Southern Universities Network – SUN will be delivering this interactive online training for education practitioners in a range of topics, detailed below:
- An Introduction to Supporting Young Carers, Wednesday 19th March, 3:15pm – 4:45pm
This introductory session follows some collaborative work with The Children’s Society. Learn how to identify and support young carers in schools through this accredited online training session.
- Introduction to the Academic Resilience Approach, Thursday 20th March, 3:15pm – 4:45pm
Online training to support schools, colleges, and educational professionals to enhance the resilience of their students, staff, and selves.
- Pre-16 Apprenticeships: Applications and Knowledge, Thursday 27th March, 3:00pm – 5:00pm
This new CPD session is aimed to help you increase your knowledge of apprenticeships and help you in applying your knowledge when advising a student. The session is delivered by the SUN team virtually and shares information and guidance on apprenticeships from Level 2 through to degree apprenticeships.
- Supporting Care-Experienced Young People On Their Journey To Higher Education, Wednesday 2nd April, 1:00pm – 2:30pm
This introductory session is in collaboration with Become, the charity for children in care and young care leavers. It aims to empower staff in post-16 settings in their support of care-experienced young people. Please note this session is only available to institutions based in the SUN region.
- Introduction to Supporting Estranged Students, Tuesday 29th April, 3:30pm – 5:00pm
This introductory online workshop will set you up with an understanding of estrangement, the barriers that students face and what support is available for estranged students entering into university. Over the 1.5 hour online session, you will be given information, techniques and actions that your college, educational or youth setting can do to support estranged students in making applications to university. This CPD has been created in collaboration has been created in collaboration with the Uni Connect Estranged and Kinship Students Partnership.
- Overcoming Barriers to Parental Participation, Wednesday 7th May, 3:00pm – 5:00pm
This introductory session follows some collaborative work with Parentkind. This online workshop will set you up with the basics your school, college or educational setting needs to build successful parent partnerships, in line with Parentkind’s principles in the Blueprint for Parent-Friendly Schools.
- An Introduction to Supporting Service Children in Schools, Tuesday 13th May, 3:15pm – 4:45pm
This introductory session follows some collaborative work with the Service Children’s Progression (SCiP) Alliance. This online accredited CPD training aims to support education professionals and their schools to enhance support for service children.
- Pathways to Level 4 and Beyond, Thursday 15th May, 3:15pm – 4:45pm
Interactive online training for professionals and organisations working with young people, to learn about the different educational pathways available to young people aged 16+.
- Breaking Barriers to Higher Education | In School & Beyond, Tuesday 3rd June, 3:30pm – 5:00pm
Interactive online training for education practitioners to understand widening participation and how, by participating in the agenda, we can help students in school and beyond to overcome barriers to higher education.
