Go Higher West Yorkshire CPD Sessions 2026 Winter – Spring

GHWY sessions aim to increase understanding of post 16 & 18 progression routes into and through Higher Education, and provide access to key updates and understanding of changes within the Further and Higher Education sector.

Go Higher West Yorkshire (GHWY) CPD programme is funded by the Uni Connect programme and offers a wide range of virtual opportunities for teachers, educators and advisors who support young people aged 11- 18.

The sessions aim to increase understanding of post 16 & 18 progression routes into and through Higher Education, and provide access to key updates and understanding of changes within the Further and Higher Education sector. Alongside this, they offer the unique opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding of underrepresented groups. 

Upcoming  Online Sessions:

  • Wednesday 21st May, 6.30–7.30pm, How to develop your personal brand – a free webinar on developing your personal brand for students (Year 11–13, T Levels, BTEC) and their parents or carers. Hosted by Go Higher West Yorkshire in partnership with Get My First Job, the session will teach attendees how to stand out in applications and interviews, improve CVs and personal statements, leverage social media, connect with industry experts, and take practical steps to showcase their unique strengths—helping students make stronger applications for apprenticeships or higher education.
  • Tuesday 3rd February, 3-4.30pm, All about STEM, Opportunities for Learners and HE Progression RoutesJoin GHWY, HE providers, employers and HE students to explore exciting opportunities for learners to develop STEM skills and knowledge and to hear more about the routes into STEM
  • Tuesday 10th June, 3.00-4.30pm, Student Finance Updates and Insights – an essential update session designed to help you confidently support learners on their higher education journey. With the Post-16 White Paper confirming key changes to the student finance system, Sammie Hutchinson (Funding Information Services Account Manager, SLC) will walk you through what’s new and what it means for your students.
  • Wednesday 11th March, 3.00-4.30pm, All about Health and Social Care, Opportunities and HE Progression Routes – Raise your awareness of free opportunities and course information in this rewarding and varied key sector. Ideal for: subject teachers (such as Science, Health and Social, Psychology, Sociology, Maths), careers advisors and any professionals supporting young people on their next steps.
