Go Higher West Yorkshire (GHWY) CPD programme is funded by the Uni Connect programme and offers a wide range of virtual opportunities for teachers, educators and advisors who support young people aged 11- 18.
The sessions aim to increase understanding of post 16 & 18 progression routes into and through Higher Education, and provide access to key updates and understanding of changes within the Further and Higher Education sector. Alongside this, they offer the unique opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding of underrepresented groups.
Upcoming Online Sessions:
- 27th February, 3-4.30pm, Changes to UCAS Personal Statements – Get ahead and learn about changes to UCAS personal statements for 2026 entry, led by Jennifer Barton of Advancing Access.
- 25th March, 3-4.30pm, Student Finance Updates – Samantha Hutchinson from the Student Loans Company will give updates on student finance for the 2025 application cycle.
- 1st May, 3 – 4.30pm, Supporting Disabled Students on their Higher Education Journey – Carly Miller, Disability Coordinator at University of Leeds will update delegates on the key information disabled learners need to make informed choices when applying to Higher Education, such as through the UCAS system, student finance system, and the types of support HE providers can give.
- 6th May, 3-4.30pm, UCAS Fair Access Programme Updates – Updates on the Fair Access Programme; such as resources, data trends, new initiatives aimed at learners from underrepresented groups in HE
In-person Events:
- GHWY Teachers and Advisors Conference, Tuesday 8th July: 09:30am to 3:30pm, University of Bradford – Working Together for Access and Success in Higher Education: Teachers’ and Advisers’ Conference. This free event, hosted by Go Higher West Yorkshire and a range of HE providers, offers insightful discussions, student voices, and networking opportunities. It’s open to teachers, advisers, youth workers, pastoral staff, and local authority professionals supporting young people.
