Experience Days at the University of Plymouth

For students in Years 10 -13 interested in studying subjects in the Arts, Humanities or Business.

There are a range of different subjects covered, at the University of Plymouth’s Experience Days on a variety dates, (all of which support schools and colleges towards achieving Gatsby Benchmark 7), read on for details…
Prospective students will be able to:
  • experience a range of hands-on activities in some of our state-of-the-art facilities
  • learn more about their area of interest
  • gather further information about career choices
  • speak to staff who could be teaching them
  • ask current students their views on studying at Plymouth
  • discover more about their course, student life at the University in general
  • come away with a participation certificate.

Enterprise

Friday 3rd March  09:30 – 15:00

Enterprise: at Plymouth will showcase the amazing business hub that is both Plymouth as a city and a university. This on-campus event is open to school students from Years 10 – 13, who are interested in studying Accounting and Finance, Business Management, Economics, Event Management, Marketing, Maritime Business or Tourism at university. This interactive experience day will provide opportunities for students to try a range of interactive business-related activities. Working in teams, groups will develop a new product whereby they will have an opportunity to consider how they want to promote this, how the product will look, where it will be sold and the pricing structure, supported by business and design students and staff at the University. Groups will pitch their idea to a panel of experts, with the winning group taking home a prize. Students will learn valuable teamworking, marketing, financial, communication, presentation, and business skills, to put them on a path to success. Book now*

Create

Wednesday 22nd March  09:30 – 14:30

Create: at Plymouth will showcase the amazing creative hub that is both Plymouth as a city and a university. This on-campus event is open to school students from Years 10 – 13, who are interested in studying architecture, Art, Built Environment, Digital Design, Design or Media at university. This interactive experience day will provide opportunities for students to try three different hour-long subject-specific workshops, from Games Art Design, and Creative Media to Fine Art. The workshops will encourage students to explore their creativity in innovative ways, from Architecture’s ‘Inspiring Spaces’ where students will create their own sustainable models, to Filmmaking’s ‘The Long Film Challenge’ where they will be able to create and showcase their film in our Jill Craigie Cinema. Be Curious:

Wednesday 19th April 09:30 – 14:30

Be Curious: at Plymouth will showcase the amazing cultural destination that is both Plymouth as a city and a university. This on-campus event is open to school students from Years 10 – 13, interested in studying Criminology, Humanities, International Relations, Law, Music, Politics, Policing or Performing Arts at university. This interactive experience day will provide opportunities for students to try three different hour-long subject-specific workshops, to encourage students to expand their thinking, from Criminology’s ‘Crime Scene Investigation’ in our Crime Scene Lab, to English‘s ‘Find Your Voice’, where students will explore writing techniques with our team of published authors. Students will learn valuable critical thinking, teamwork, communication and investigation skills. Book now*

Inspire: at Plymouth

Tuesday 27th June 09:30 – 14:30

Inspire: at Plymouth will showcase the amazing opportunities that exist with educating the next generation. This on-campus event is open to school students from Years 10 – 13. This event is aimed at students interested in a career in early childhood studies, education or primary teaching. Working in groups, students will experience a range of interactive workshops to expand their thinking, such as sustainability in education, to consider how they might transform the future of education. Students will learn valuable communication, critical thinking, teamwork, empathy and creativity skills. Book now*
