The University of Exeter, want to hear your ideas about English and Law. This is the 3rd of a series of essay competitions that the University of Exeter are running throughout the year. It is open to students from Year 11-13 studying any Level 2 or Level 3 course. Students can either submit a 1,000 word essay or a 6-7 minute video. There will be two prizes. One for the best essay (1000 words), and one for the best video entry (6-7 minutes).

- Write about your favourite ending to a novel, and what did you like about it?
- What can a poem say or do that cannot be said or done with any other form of language?
- How might literature be a catalyst for social transformation?
Law
- Critically analyse the effectiveness of utilitarian forms punishment in preventing crime.
- Discuss the importance of judicial independence.
- What challenges does the UK criminal justice system face today?
