The University of Exeter are running their essay competitions for the 2024/25 academic year, continuing with the topics of Biomedical Sciences and Renewable Energy, which open on Monday 4th November. It is open to students from Year 11-13 studying any Level 2 or Level 3 course. Students can either submit a 1,000 word essay or a 6-7 minute video. There will be two prizes. One for the best essay (1000 words), and one for the best video entry (6-7 minutes) of a £100 voucher and University of Exeter hoodie awarded to the winner of each category.

- How can medical and biological sciences best be communicated to the general public?
- If extraterrestrial life were to be discovered, how might it differ from life on Earth?
- Discuss the role of renewable energy sources in mitigating climate change and reducing global dependence on fossil fuels.
- How have we moved from installing the UK’s first commercial wind farmto today’s large-scale on- and offshore wind farms, and what’s next for the wind industry?
- How can we persuade people with gas boilers to replace them with heat pumps when they next replace them?
