  • Level 2 or 3 Award in Land Based Technology
  • Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Agriculture

  • 2 or more GCSEs at grades 9 to 3 (A* to D), or equivalent, for a level 2 course

Apprenticeship

  • some GCSEs, usually including English and maths, or equivalent, for an intermediate apprenticeship
  • 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, including English and maths, for an advanced apprenticeship

What you'll do:

Agricultural contractors provide specialised, seasonal or temporary services to farmers.

Depending on your area of work specialism you could:

  • process, mill and mix seeds
  • spray and fertilise crops
  • harvest crops
  • help with animal husbandry like breeding calves and delivering lambs
  • trim hooves or shear and dip sheep
  • maintain and create new dry stone walling
  • erect fencing
  • do excavation or drainage work

Location : You could work on a farm.
Environment : Your working environment may be physically demanding, outdoors in all weathers and you'll travel often.
